Tools for talking - 0 to 3 year olds4 February 2022 (by Tracy Cottam (TCottam)) |
Try playing a copying game together. You could try asking your child to copy you clapping, dancing, making animal noises - get inventive!
Practicing taking turns when copying helps your child to learn the back and forth rhythm of conversations.
Encourage your child to take turns in copying - you can have a go copying them first, and then let your child have a go at copying you.
Remember to wait a little for your child to respond and copy you.
Let your child take the lead when it's their turn and copy their actions back to them.
