Reading is very important to us here at St. Cuthbert's so over the year we will do lots of things to celebrate books and ensure children enjoy reading! Keep your eyes peeled!
World Book Day 2025!
This year the whole school celebrated World Book Day by all reading the same book. We Read The Wonder by Faye Hanson linking it to our school value of aspirational. The children all filled their heads full of wonders to create a whole school display!
National Poetry Day
We celebrated National Poetry day on the 5th October. Each class chose a poem and a poet to study. Take a look!
Author Visit!
M.T Sanders and his dog Bandit visited our school. The children were able to meet an author and the character from one of his books - Bandit! They had a story session and a question time! They loved it!
World Book Day
The theme of World Book day this year was Reading for Pleasure, we took part in lots of activities that promoted us as readers and allowed children to enjoy reading! This year we invited children in to school dressed as their favourite book characters!

Book Advent Calendar!
We gave each class their very own Book Advent Calendar to enjoy during Advent! Each day/week of Advent they get to open the box and take out a book to enjoy!

Pyjamarama Day
Today children and teachers came to school wearing their pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns! You can guess how comfortable we were! The day was organised to understand and promote the importance of a bedtime story so we enjoyed stories by the fire with cushions, blankets, hot chocolate and biscuits!
