STEM - Build a bunny craft activity

Making structures from card strips and assembling these into animal forms

In this fun Easter themed STEM activity, you will learn about 3D structures within a graphical project. The aim being to develop your knowledge and skills in Design Technology and Mathematics.

Maths - Geometry

Recognise, describe and build simple 3D shapes, including making nets

Design Technology

Select from and use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks e.g. cutting, shaping, joining and finishing

The engineering context

Engineers, such as structural engineers and architects, use nets and card to allow them to make scaled 3D models of buildings and other structures. By the end of this STEM challenge you will be able to understand how structures are made using separate parts and you will have made and assembled your own bunny structure.

Hoppy Easter everyone!

Don't forget to send a picture of your bunny structure to enquiries@admin.saintcuthberts.wigan.sch.uk for a chance to have your work published on the school website

Structural engineer:

Structural engineers need to know how to design and build different kinds of structures in ways that make them safe, steady and energy efficient. It is like Lego or Minecraft in real life. Just like building games, you need to know how building materials behave and then test out different designs to see what works best.
