Tools for talking - 3 to 4 year olds4 February 2022 (by Tracy Cottam (TCottam)) |
By the time your little one turns 3, you might find they've started to talk to you about things that have already happened.
When they do, it can help unlock a lot more complex language as they can't just name and comment on the things in front of them.
Your child is starting to recognise and talk about the past and future.
Help them to understand by practising talking with them, about things that have happened and will happen later on.
Encouraging your child to talk about the past and future helps their growing language skills.
Help your child to develop their fantastic talking skills!
Encourage your child to reflect on stories and future chat, by asking simple who, what, when, where, why and how questions.
Give them time to respond and keep doing it.
